- 2,268 of 2,289 parent companies reported in 2023 (21 last appear in an earlier year). The warehouse holds 8,713 facilities; 6,455 reported in 2023. Do not treat the warehouse counts as the 2023 census.
- 2.38 billion MT CO₂e in 2023 (yearly_totals = SUM of facility emissions for that year). That is -25.7% vs 2011 (3,207.6 million MT, 0.74×). More parents reported (2,268 vs the 2011 rollup) while the CO₂e total fell.
- 86.3 million MT is Vistra's 2023 total (#1 of 2,268, 3.6% of the year). The top 10 parents hold 21.8% (520.4 million MT).
- 99.5% of The Southern's 2023 CO₂e sits in Power Plants (26 of 38 facilities) even though the parent label is Natural Gas and Natural Gas Liquids Suppliers. The company.industry column is a primary-sector tag, not the facility mix.
- 60.3% of 2023 CO₂e is Power Plants (1437.3 million MT across 1,291 facilities). The industries table latest-year rollup is 1550.5 million MT / 1,732 facilities and includes leftover years; do not cite that as the 2023 share.
- 15.9% of 2023 CO₂e was reported from Texas (379.8 million MT, 851 facilities, 2.63× Louisiana). That is the 2023 emissions join, not the states-table latest-year total, which still carries leftover-year facilities. 54 jurisdictions are in the register (50 states plus DC, PR, GU, VI).
- #36 is Waste Management's 2023 CO₂e ordinal while it leads methane at 11.5 million MT CO₂e. Vistra leads CO₂e and reports 0.1 million MT methane. The methane ladder is not the CO₂e ladder.
- 25.4% of warehouse facilities (2,214 of 8,713) have no parent company_id. None of the 2023 reporters are unattributed; those rows are leftover-year facilities that inflate the warehouse and not the 2023 yearly total.
