How the comparison works
Every comparison renders directly from the EPA Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) database. For each company we show total reported Scope 1 CO₂-equivalent emissions, the year-over-year trend across every reporting year on record, the number of reporting facilities, and the EPA industry classification, so you can weigh two emitters on the same evidence. Only facilities emitting 25,000+ metric tons of CO₂e per year are required to report, so these figures reflect each company's largest direct-emitting operations, not its full carbon footprint.
What to do with the picker
Compare two reporters, then cite the pair
- Pick two of the 120 largest GHGRP parents (1.6B MT combined). Vistra is 5.2% of that picker total.
- The comparison is Scope 1 only. Facilities under 25,000 MT CO2e/year are not required to report, so these are the largest direct-emitting operations, not a full carbon footprint.
- Cite the pair page (not this hub) when you reuse a two-company result. Source: EPA GHGRP.
